What is a Memory Stick?

A Memory Stick is a removable flash memory card, launched by Sony on October 1998. In addition to the original Memory Stick, this family includes the Memory Stick PRO, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick Micro (M2), and Memory Stick Pro-HG.

What is the difference between a regular Memory Stick and Memory Stick Pro?

Memory Stick Pro is a revision that allows for faster file transfer speeds and greater maximum storage.

What is Memory Stick Duo?

Memory Stick Duo is half the size of a regular Memory Stick and used in various Sony digital cameras, cell phones and electronic devices such as the PlayStation Portable (PSP).

What is Memory Stick Micro?

Memory Stick Micro, or M2, is an even smaller format which is roughly one-quarter the size of the Duo. The M2 card normally comes with an adapter so that it can be used in Memory Stick Pro and Pro Duo devices. The M2/Adapter combination will not work in all devices however, since the firmware of older devices will only recognize up to a certain amount of memory.
