level questions: Catalysts

QuestionAnswer
What exactly is a Catalyst?-This is simply a Substance that makes the Reaction go Faster, and itself being Chemically Changed or Used up in the Reaction- It stays the Same
How can Catalysts do their Job?-They simply Decrease the Activation Energy for the Reaction -This is done by giving an Alternative Reaction Pathway, that has Lower Activation Energy
How can you find out that a Substance may be a Catalyst for a Reaction? What do you have to do for this Test?-Simply react the Solutions without the Substance, and measure the Rate of Reaction -Then include the Substance in, and make sure you know the Mass of it as well -If the Rate increases And the Solid hasn't been Affected [Filter the Solid and then Measure it], it may be a Catalyst -Making it a Fair Test needs the Volumes and Concentration of the Solutions to be Recorded, as well as the Temperature
What are Enzymes? Where would they be used?-They are simply Biological Catalysts, so they just speed up Chemical Reactions in Living Cells -Respiration, Photosynthesis and Protein Synthesis uses Enzymes
