QuestionAnswer
How do you find the volume of a composite solidTo find the volume of a composite solid of a triangular prism on a cuboid first work out the area of the cross-section/ front face. The area of the square is the base of 10cm x the height of 12cm = 120, and because the triangle only has a 40-degree angle, cut it down the middle to give a 90-degree angle, and half the base is 10/2 = 5cm so because 40 is the opposite and 5 is the adjacent use Tan(o/a), then multiply by ½ x 10 x ½ area of the triangle to get the total area, and add this to the square. Now work out the volume = area of cross-section x depth(length) in cm^3
What is the equation for pressure?Pressure = force/area
What do you do to get the area back into the measurements? To get the area back into its measurements square root it.
How do you work out the equation of a parallel line?To work out the equation of a 2x – 4y = 8 through the point (3,0) take the straight-line equation and simplify to find the value of the gradient(m). 2x – 4y = 8 minus 2x is 4y = -2 + 8, then divide the equation by 4 = y = ½ x – 2. Now subsitie x in the equation for 3 = 0 = ½ x 3 + b which is 0 = 3/2 + b then minus 3/2 to isolate b to get -3/2 = b Put this back into the equation y = ½ x + b which is y = ½ x + 3/2 and the straight line equation though the point (3, 0)
