Explain the ingredients, goldilocks conditions, and new complexities of Threshold 5
Complex Chemical compounds(RNA DNA), liquid water, the right amount of energy Maintain and fuel themselves, Adjust to changes around them, copy themselves and gain new characteristics over time
What are the characteristics of 'Life' as discussed in 'Life and Purpose'? Explain.
The characteristics of life and purpose are that self-generation and reproduction are the key to a basic life for an early monkey to eat, sleep and take care of the kids. Charles Darwin had the theory that life started in a tiny pool of warm water with prokaryotic cells in the bottom of the pool feeding of the chemical soup served hot and fresh.
How is this threshold (life) more complex than previous thresholds?
Life is one of the most complex things that we know it is filled with different cells and organisms atoms and much more... Life is an amazingly complex thing we humans are super complex same with all elements of life therefore the fifth threshold a very complex threshold.
What are prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells? What is endosymbiosis? Why is it significant?
Endosymbiosis is important because it is a theory that explains the origin of chloroplast and mitochondria. It is also a theory that explains how eukaryotic cells came to be. Prokaryotes are organisms that consist of a single prokaryotic cell. Eukaryotic cells are found in plants, animals, fungi, and protists.
Give an example of how biology influenced climate.
Species can respond to climate change by moving to areas where the climate is favourable, by evolving and adapting to new environmental conditions, or, if climate changes too rapidly, by going extinct.
Give an example of how the climate influenced biology.
Climate has far reaching impacts on biological systems. Survival and For example, a 18C increase in the world's average temperature could result in some weird things happing.
What is the theory of evolution
The theory of evolution is based on the idea that all species? are related and gradually change over time. Like birds that learn that the north is cold during the winter so they migrate to the south.
According to this theory, how do organisms change through time?
They mutate from their old selves by moving to a different climate of area of land and slowly become adapted to the climate and when they have kids the adjustments to their kids and they pass it on and on and on.
What is an extinction event? Describe one in detail.
An extinction event is when a mass of animals die in a period of time like the dino's.
Who is Charles Darwin? Why is he significant to our study of life?
He is a biologist that came up with the idea of natural selection and he is significant for his study's and explorations in science
Find a connection between your LID topic and this threshold.
My lid topic is forests so I think the connection to threshold would be the new forests and life that they bring to the earth.
