Answer
An affix that is added in front of the word. USUALLY indicates location, time or number. EX. Prenatal = time & events BEFORE birth
Prefix
A word part added at the end of the word. USUALLY indicates procedure, condition, disorder, or disease. EX. tonsillitis. -itis is a suffix = inflammation
Suffix
Foundation of most medical terms; the most basic meaning of a word. USUALLY indicate involved body part. EX. Gastr = stomach
Word Root
Word root with a vowel at the end (when a consonant can be added. EX. gastr/o.
Combining Form
Word root changed into a noun. EX. cranium is the bone (skull) that covers the brain.
