QuestionAnswer
What are the 3 Wires in Appliances?1. Live Wire: This is a Brown Wire that just carries the Alternating Voltage around [230 V] 2. Neutral Wire: This is a Blue Wire that just Finishes the Circuit, when the Appliance is Operating. Current goes through the Live Wire, and the Neutral Wire. It is around 0 Volts 3. Earth Wire: This is a Green and Yellow Wire that is used for Safety. It will carry the Current away In case a Crisis emerges. Also at 0 V
Why, if your Body made Contact with the Live Wire, would it Injure or even Kill you?-This is because a Large Potential Difference would go Across your Body, and therefore a Current Would, because your Body is at 0 Volts. [Difference]
How can Earthing and Fuses lower the Chance of Fires and Shocks?-Electricity will flow Anywhere, as long as it can Conduct. -If the Live Wire touches a Material that can Conduct - Metal - then Current will also Flow through it as well. This is Dangerous -So it has to be Earthed, or really it needs an Earth Wire, so that if the Live Wire touches the Case [Fault] then the Current will also Flow through the Earth Wire -Something you need to know about the Earth Wire is that its Stupid Thick and has a Low Resistance, meaning the Total Resistance of the Circuit will go Down as Well - meaning the Current will Increase. -This Increase will Melt the Fuse, and therefore Break the Circuit meaning the Appliance can't Harm You.
Why would the Appliance not need an Earth Wire if it had a Non-Conductive Casing?-If Plastic [Example] was used to Cash the Appliance, then it can't become Live. -So this means the Earth Wire will not get a Current Across, making its Role Useless.
