AKA Mosses, most common ones, gametophyte is composed of an upright stem like structure on top of which are found reproductive organs. Axis (cormus) bares leafy blade. Rudimentary structures with no stomata or veins and always one cell thick except for midrib. Leafy blade cells usually contain numerous chloroplasts except midrib. Ground mounting is ensured by multicellular hairs named rhizoids.
