Kwashiorkor

Protein deficiency occurring most often in children in developing countries. Results from severe protein restriction in the presence of other calories. Characterized by edema in the feet legs and often face and hands and swelling in the abdomen due to hypoalbuminemia and enlarged fatty liver.
