In the first stage of the cell cycle by mitosis, the DNA replicates to form two copies of each chromosome it grows and also copies its internal structures such as mitochondria and ribosomes In the second stage of the cell cycle, mitosis takes place and one set of chromosomes are pulled to each end of the cell while the nucleus divides In the third stage of the cell cycle, the cytoplasm and cell membrane divide to form two identical cells
