Question:

The battle of hastings

Author: Serena Ewane

Answer:

The battle of hastings happened straight after the battle of stamford bridge where harold godwinson was forced into killing his rival, harald hardrada, and his own traitorous brother, tostig godwinson. After a day, they arrived on 14 oct 1066. he had to walk to go fight william after finding out that he'd landed in the south of england. many of the warriors abandoned him on the way there as they were fyres, farmers who were fighters during times of battle. harold's men arrived, tired and depleted, barely ready to fight. midway through the battle, a rumour spread that william had been killed, though a little while after william made his presence known to the fighters out on the battlefield. they used the false retreat method to round up harold's men and shot arrows in the air. one of these rogue arrows is said to have hit harold in the eye and he bled out, as shown in the bayeux tapestry.
