Question:

Mutants

Author: Alex Rapai

Answer:

Cop1 mutant: fails to adopt an etiolated morphology in darkness. The transcription factor HY5 is a positive regulator of photomorphogenesis. HY5 is a nuclear, DNA-binding molecule. It binds a DNA sequence motif called the G-box (CACGTG). HY5 is not degraded in the dark so the plant develops as if it were in the light.
