Question:

Coriolis effect on depth

Author: Alex Rapai

Answer:

Surface waters moved by wind (Rt/NH, L/SH). As water at surface pushes on water below, this water moves yet further to the R (or L) of wind etc. Movement progressively weaker with depth. At 90-100 m depth: velocity is zero with direction of 180 degrees from wind. Net water movement (all depths) ~ 90 degrees from wind.
