Asides from preventing constipation, fibre can help prevent mupltiple diseases of the large intestine, such as bowel cancer, hemorrhoids, and appendicitis. Moreover, by increasing the bulk of material in the stomach and intestines, there is less desire to eat and therefore less risk of obesity. Absorption of sugars may also be slowed down, so risk of developing Type II diabetes is reduced
