Allopurinol

Is a xanthine oxidase inhibitor used in the treatment of gout and hyperuricemia. It has the potential, more so than many other drugs, to cause the potentially fatal Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis. It can also suppress bone marrow, leading to conditions such as aplastic anemia.
