What does the regulation say about Relaxed Grooming standards?Due to operational requirements, select Rangers will be authorized Relaxed Grooming standards and facial hair. Rangers on Relaxed Grooming standards will always maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance.
What does the Blue Book say about RFS?Performing to standard is simple; if a Ranger fails to perform to standard, the individual will be released. RFS is not a replacement for leadership, retraining, or UCMJ. Only after counseling and training is complete, will a Ranger be considered for RFS.
What is the Regimental leave policy?The intent is for Battalions to provide 2X Block Leave, one before and one after deployment or component cycle. While on block leave, the battalion must be capable of returning and assembling within 96 hours of notification.
What is the policy for ImageA Rangers appearance and conduct will be professional at all times. Rangers will not display items denigrating any race, religion, or culture; this includes living quarters, residences, POVs, tattoos, and clothing. Any Ranger that embarrasses or disgraces their battalion, the Ranger Regiment, or the Army will be considered for UCMJ, RFS, chapter, or other admin action.
What is the Standard for Male HaircutsRangers will maintain a neat and professional haircut at all times. The hair on top of the head will be neatly groomed and the hair must present a tapered appearance. The length and bulk of the hair will not be excessive or present a ragged, unkempt, faddish, or extreme appearance. Dyes, tints, and bleaches are not authorized. The natural length of the hair (without gel, paste, or wax) will not fall below the ears or eyebrows and will not touch the collar. Male Rangers are not authorized to wear braids, cornrows, or dreadlocks.
What is the Tattoo Policy?AR 670-1 states that any tattoo or brand visible in the service uniform is unauthorized. Any tattoo that is extremist, sexist, racist, or indecent (regardless of location in the body) is also unauthorized. The CoC is responsible for enforcing this policy.
What is the policy on Body MutilationRangers are prohibited from any unauthorized form of body mutilation, which is the willful mutilation of the body or any body parts in any manner.
What does the Blue Book say about Uniformity?Commanders and Senior Ranger leaders will make uniformity decisions based on operational requirements and the Ranger Creed. Leaders will ensure that all Rangers are in the same base uniform and ensure that equipment is dressed-right whenever necessary. Rangers will wear uniforms IAW AR 670-1 and DA PAM 670-1 unless modified by the decision of the senior leader or the Ranger Standards.
What does the Blue Book say about the Service UniformThe Army Service Uniform all be worn IAW AR 670-1 and ALARACT message 202/2008.
What does the Blue Book say about the Duty UniformThe Duty Uniform will be worn when conducting official business during the duty day outside of unit areas on/off post IAW local installation policies. It will be free of holes, frays, wrinkles, and not faded. All Velcro and buttons will be fastened and sleeves will be worn down. Mission belts are not authorized. The duty uniform consists of Scorpion Uniform/flame retardant OEF MultiCam Uniform/Army improved hot weather Uniform, beret, with matching 499 tam T-shirt, belt, and AR 670-1 approved boots. Every Ranger will carry a copy of the Ranger Standards Blue Book
What is the guidance for Maternity Uniforms?Rangers in duty/field maternity uniform will adhere to the same guidelines as for the other uniforms. Alternate footwear may be prescribed by a medical provider.
What is the PT uniform?The PT uniform consists of the black T-Shirt with the Battalion/Regimental scroll, black sterile shorts with a 3-5” inseam, black hoodless sweatshirt or long sleeve shirt with the silver/grey DUI, black sterile sweatpants, black micro fleece cap, athletic shoes, white or black socks.
What are the 3 Civilian Clothing uniforms?Slicks- Equivalent to the service uniform or business attire. Smooths- Equivalent to the duty uniform or business casual. Roughs- Equivalent to the field uniform or casual attire.
How is the beret properly worn?The beret is worn IAW AR 670-1. The beret will be worn level on the head, approx. 1 inch above the eyebrows, draped no lower than the middle of the right ear with the flash centered over the left eye. The beret will never cover the right eye. The beret drawstring will be tied off and the ends cut.
What is the the regulation for ID tags?IAW DA PAM 600-8-14, Rangers will wear two ID tags with the long and short chain while in uniform, except when conducting PT. They will be worn around the neck inside the T-Shirt and a religious medallion may be worn on the tags.
What jewelry are Rangers allowed to wear?Rangers are only authorized to wear a wedding band, class ring, KIA Bracelet, and a religious medallion on the ID tag. Female Rangers can wear earrings off duty and in ASUs.
What is the regulation for boots?Any boot IAW AR 670-1 can be worn in any uniform. Boots will be bloused and laced IAW AR 670-1 in duty uniform and excess bootlaces may be wrapped around the top of the boot.
Non-standard boot criteriaColor- boots and laces should be muted /earth tone colors Support- Boots will have a minimum of a 6 in upper in order to provide adequate ankle protection and foot stability. Appearance- Must be consistent with a military appearance and worn IAW the Blue Book
