Question:

Explain, using Energy Stores and Work Done, what needs to Happen to the Car for it to Stop?

Author: go kys

Answer:

-Brakes on the Car will do Work on the Wheels of said Car. This will then Transfer Energy from the Kinetic Energy Store of the Car, to the Thermal Energy Store of the Brake. -If the Car needs to Stop, then the Brakes have to Transfer ALL the Energy so: -Energy in the Cars Kinetic Energy Store = Work Done by the Brakes 1/2 x m x v² = F x d. where M = Mass of car, v² = Speed of Car, F = Braking Force and d = Breaking Distance.
