Question:

Describe the advantages to using machines to till the soil, plant, and harvest crops.

Author: Freya Watson

Answer:

Larger areas can be cultivated easily by one person rather than lot of people and intensive labour. This reduces the labour costs for the farmer and also means they are cropping from a large area. The power of the machine’s engine means work like ploughing can take place when there is more water in the soil (when it is heavier), extending the season when soils can be cultivated.
