Question:

How many molecules of ATP can be produced from one molecule under aerobic conditions? Anaerobic conditions? Why?

Author: Carson Kapinos

Answer:

Generate around 32-38 ATP and 2 NADH from one glucose molecule under aerobic conditions. 2 ATP is generated for anaerobic conditions but can’t be used without oxygen, only NADH because you need oxygen to use the ATP. That NADH is used to create lactic acid to continue making NADH.
